Short answer: yes. LED neon signs are low-voltage, low-power lights — ours draw about 3 watts, run from a USB port or a low-voltage wall adapter, and are safe to touch because LEDs produce very little heat. There is no glass tube, no gas and no high-voltage transformer involved, which is what separates them from traditional neon.
No. The LEDs edge-light an acrylic panel and stay cool enough to touch even after hours of use — the sign does not overheat. Compare that to incandescent bulbs (most of their energy becomes heat) or classic glass neon (driven by a transformer that runs warm), and the difference is structural, not marginal. A sign left on all evening above a home bar or in a garage is not a heat source.
The sign itself runs on low voltage. The electrical version ships with an adapter that accepts standard mains power (110–240 V) and steps it down for the sign; the USB version runs on the 5 V that any USB port provides. Power draw is about 3 watts — running a sign 8 hours every evening uses roughly 9 kWh per year, which at typical US electricity rates is around a dollar a year.
This is one of the most common uses — especially our 3D LED night lights, which are designed to sit on a nightstand: cool to the touch, low voltage, and dim enough to sleep near. Standard child-safety sense still applies: route the cord out of a toddler's reach and hang wall signs securely from their metal chain, as you would any wall decor.
